Admittedly I’ve always taken my female friendships a little for granted. I grew up with 3 sisters. Some of my best friends to this day I met before I was potty trained. (they’re still putting up with my shit 😜)
My mom modeled the importance of these friendships from the time I was very young, when she formed a group with other mothers seeking connection, and called themselves ‘Women in the Woods.’
Decades later you still might find them howling at the full moon in the Badlands of South Dakota, or holding goddess ceremonies for each other’s birthdays.
The idea for this image sort of abruptly came into focus in my brain a few months ago, but I know that what arrived in a moment actually has been brewing all my life, in my very fortunate knowing the boundless amounts of power, magic and a whole lot of hilarity a circle of women can hold, especially when fueled with a little wine and whiskey around a campfire 😉
